O webinar oferece uma introdução à metabolómica de plantas e descreve o full workflow, passando pela colheita do material vegetal à extracção e técnicas analíticas mais utilizadas para estudar o metaboloma da planta.
Para quem é o Webinar?
O webinar é destinado a alunos (licenciatura, mestrado, doutoramento) e/ou investigadores com formação em Ciências Biológicas interessados em aprender sobre os princípios básicos da Metabolómica para aplicar, por exemplo, ao estudo das respostas metabólicas da planta face a factores ambientais externos (abióticos/bióticos). Não é essencial ter conhecimento prévio da área de metabolómica, mas um conhecimento e compreensão razoáveis de Química Analítica, Biologia de Plantas e Bioquímica serão benéficos.
O que vamos aprender?
No final do webinar, deverá conseguir:
-Avaliar os desafios analíticos e experimentais envolvidos no estudo do metaboloma da planta.
-Descrever alguns princípios do Desenho Experimental em estudos de Metabolómica de Plantas.
-Compreender as principais técnicas analíticas (MS, NMR) e principais ferramentas de análise estatística de dados aplicados ao estudo do metaboloma da planta.
-Compreender as respostas metabólicas das plantas em contextos de stress abiótico/biótico.
Duração do Webinar:
O webinar será leccionado em português e terá a duração de 3h + Q&A no final da sessão, via plataforma ZOOM.

Introduction to Plant Metabolomics
(5th edition May 2026)
The webinar provides an introduction to plant metabolomics, from experimental design, to sample preparation and metabolite analysis with the most commonly used analytical techniques for studying the plant metabolome.​​​

Target audience?
The webinar is aimed at final year undergraduate students, master, PhD students and/or research scientists who are interested in learning about the application of metabolomics to understand plant metabolism, for example, in the study of plant metabolic responses to external environmental factors (abiotic/biotic).
Prior knowledge of metabolomics is not essential, but a reasonable understanding of Analytical Chemistry, Plant Biology, and Biochemistry will be beneficial.
​What will you learn?
By the end of the webinar, you should be able to:
-Evaluate the analytical and experimental challenges involved in studying the plant metabolome.
-Describe some principles of Experimental Design in Plant Metabolomics studies.
-Understand the main analytical techniques (MS, NMR) and key statistical data analysis tools applied to the study of the plant metabolome.
-Understand metabolic responses of plants in abiotic/biotic stress
contexts.
Webinar Duration:
The webinar can also be taught in english and will last 3h + Q&A at the end of the session, via ZOOM platform.
